CATHOLIC MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL

Boiler replacement
Completed August 2008

The project involved the replacement of approximately 46 unit ventilators in the school. Some of the existing unit ventilators used steam for heat, while the new units use hot water. As a result, steam boilers and distribution piping were removed and a new hot water distribution system was installed.
Existing hot water boilers were removed and replaced as well. The new units have cooling coils for future air conditioning and chilled water runouts that extend to ceiling spaces for future connection. Additionally, numerous convectors in the older portions of the school were replaced, while those in newer parts of the school were reused.
The project also included upgrades to the lighting system. New lamps were installed, along with occupancy sensors. This will also contribute to the anticipated energy savings.
$20,000: Focus on Energy rebates generated by upgrades
$10,000: Tax savings through owner direct purchase of materials
$22,000: Annual projected energy savings
